What Does the Rx Symbol Mean?
Rx symbolizes prayer to the god of Medicine named Jupitor. In Latin it means “recipe take thou” or “take it in the name of god”. It is always written in the upper left corner of a prescription page
When and Where Did the First Pharmacy Open?
Their origin can be traced back to humble beginnings as medieval pharmacies. The first pharmacy was likely a collection of herbs and medications located in India during the 6th century B.C. The earliest known compilation of medicinal substances was ARIANA, the Sushruta Samhita, an Indian Ayurvedic treatise attributed to Sushruta. The oldest known "drugstore" was established in Baghdad more than 1,200 years ago.
